The Logan Herald Journal wrote an article about me. This article was a great one. Aside from the aweful picture of me, I really liked this one. It was front and center in the local news. I really enjoyed the interview with the reporter, Mathew Jensen. He had great questions and was sure to cover everything. The photographer was great also. The cake looks nice in the picture. The Studio 5 Segment went very well. It was my first time doing something like this. I wasn’t nervous about being on television and I wasn’t nervous about teaching what I had to teach. However, the time issue did make me nervous. I knew I had a lot of content for the time frame. So, I worried about running out if time. It was a push at the end but we made it and I really enjoyed myself. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

The segment isn’t online but I will be getting a copy of the show in a little while. So, I will put it online as soon as I can. But for now, here’s a link to the recipe I shared on Studio 5 for my hugely popular Rocky Road Cake.

The Deseret New article came out in the paper today. It was titled “Prize cake is a labor of love”. I think it’s a nice article and I appreciate the recognition. If you want to read it, you can go to Deseret News and read it.

My family is so wonderful. They are holding a reception in my honor so that I can display my cake that won third place in the Grand National Wedding Cake Competition.

It will be open to the public, so anyone anyone in the area can come see the cake. There will also be a tasting available for the recipe that I will be demonstrating on Studio 5 along with a very tasty catered dessert.

The reception will be held at the Carmelle Reception Center located at 4075 S. Highland Drive in Salt Lake City. Come and celebrate with us, have some sweets and see the cake that has gotten national attention.

I would like to thank Carmelle Reception for providing such a wonderful place to hold this event.

I came across an article that was posted yesterday in Tulsa World. It is a great article showing my cake that won Third place in the Grand National Wedding Cake Competition. I was very happy with the things that were said about my cake.

I especially appreciated the quote by Kerry Vincent when she said that my cake was:

“A cake that perfectly fit this year’s theme, ‘The Language of Flowers.’ The handwritten sheets were simply lovely, along with the pleated panels.”

What a great comment from such an icon in the cake world. There was one thing that I do feel I need to clarify. I won third and not second place as the article states. Click here to read the article.

I also found an excerpt of some of the coverage of the Tulsa State Fair where the competition is held. It was a nice story talking about the 600 cakes that were there and there was a shot of my cake in there. If you’re interested you can watch the NewsOn6 story here.

I’ve got such a great team of PR (aka family). We’re in the works of lining up a gumpaste class for me to teach. I feel that gum paste is something I do very well. And since I have taught classes for a few years, I should offer a class that I love.

I just got a call from the editor of the Food section of the Deseret News today. They want to run an article about me and my cake. This is so fun. But I’ve been really busy. I guess I just welcome all of the publicity right now because it won’t last forever.

I have been really swamped with things to do and people to talk to…

KSL’s Studio 5 just called me and wants me to do a segment on their show! Wow! I can’t believe all of the doors that are opening up for me!

I will be displaying my cake and then they want me to do a demonstration of some sort. It will be a 6 minute segment. I better get cracking and decide what I want to do.
