Another Cake Central Magazine Feature

August 21st, 2010 by Amelia

The August issue of Cake Central Magazine is here! I hope you all have a chance to see it. The cakes keep getting better and better. And they are adding a lot of content to the magazine as well. It’s a really good issue. I especially liked the article from Kaysie Lackey entitled, “Cake Decorator is not a dirty word”. A lot of decorators shy away from the title of cake decorator and choose the title cake artist or cake designer. While I’ve used these terms as well, I’m not afraid to call myself a cake decorator. It’s what I do and I love it!

Now for the real reason for mentioning the magazine. I have yet another cake featured in it. It’s in the Now and Then section on page 70. I really liked the way this one turned out. I hope you all get a chance to see it. I will be posting the picture in about a week if you don’t.

First Birthday Cake

August 2nd, 2010 by Amelia

I love doing first birthday cakes! It is so fun to make a cake that you know will be a fun and new experience for someone. This cake was such a fun one too. I went to the consultation ready to ask all of the questions about the birthday girl and design a cake just for her. But to my surprise, I got there and they had a cake already sketched! Not a picture of a cake they wanted me to copy, but an actual sketch!

That made me so happy to see people that are really into their cake. It really is fun to see the excitement and passion for cake alive and well.

Isn’t that just so cute? I love the monkey theme.  And THEY had the idea of the palm trees and monkeys hanging from them!

I thought her name and the little monkey faces turned out pretty cute too.

And I LOVED the palm trees! Aren’t they just so cool?
